There were four awesome wineries that we visited. The Joseph Swan Vineyards photos are below in another, separate post. The wineries that we are looking at here are: Concannon Vineyards, Ravenswood Winery, which Robin helped to start in the early 1970’s, and Bedrock Wine Company. Just a little background. Concannon Vineyards was the first American winery to plant Petite Syrah in 1883 and it was blended at that time. The single variety was not bottled and released until 1961, according to the G-G-Grandson of the founders, Jim Concannon who we met. Robin helped to start Ravenswood Winery with winemaker Joel Peterson, who is known as the “Godfather of Zinfandel”. Joel owned the winery until several years ago when he sold it. He is still employed at the winery. Morgan Twain Peterson, son of Joel Peterson is a good winemaker by his own right. Morgan owns and is the winemaker at Bedrock Wine Company. Enjoy these photos and now you know some of our favorite “go to” wineries and wines. Just remember the names of these four and you will do well. Cheers!!
